Cause shopping is the act of applying your hard earned dollars toward projects you support in exchange for stuff you can use e.g. t-shirts, postcards, mugs, bumper stickers etc. All proceeds from the items below go toward Western Mountains Alliance’s efforts to support sustainable agriculture in western Maine.

100% cotton tee shirt with Eat Smart Eat Local graphic.  Celebrate the connection between farms and communities!  All tee shirts are cauliflower color, USA union made and sweatshop free.  Single color choice for graphic: blueberry, eggplant, kale.  Sizes: S, M, L, XL.  Sizing runs a bit large. $10.50 plus S/H.  Proceeds support sustainable agriculture projects.

Postcards with ‘buy local’ designs by Maine high school graphic arts students.  Four original designs use commentary art to raise awareness about the connection between health, school lunch, and fresh local farm produce.  Limited edition. $6 for a set of 8 assorted postcards.  Proceeds support sustainable agriculture projects.

The Eat Smart Eat Local Project was founded in 2005 as a new sustainable agriculture program of Western Mountains Alliance (WMA). 

Eat Smart Eat Local is striving to increase demand for local produce that encourages farmers to increase their production.  WMA provides technical assistance, workshops and outreach to farmers to help them grow more, store more, extend the harvest and market produce.  Partnerships with schools, parents, health care practitioners and the community are working to incorporate more local foods into area schools, hospitals and businesses.
